Synopsis

Unable to leave the atmosphere, the Green Lantern looks for help from a mystical source, which leads him to a mysterious gateway and surprising answers to the origin of Hal's ring.

Plot

Into the Green

Hal Jordan's mission to leave Earth leads him to Monte de Santa Trega, an underground cavern in Spain. There he finds a lush and thriving wonderland but what is more surprising is the guardian of the unground paradise is Hal's old friend Tom Kalmaku.

Tom explains that the Guardians have hidden a Green Lantern Battery inside Earth as a backup if something ever happens to the Green Lantern Corp. This is why Earth has so many Lanterns and why Hal's ring won't let him leave Earth, until he learned the truth.

Hal gets a new ring and after saying goodbye to Tom, Hal flies off Earth and heads to Oa to warn them that someone in the United Planets Corps is hunting down lanterns and destroying power batteries, but he is intercepted.

A group of United Planet Lanterns see Hal as a threat and arrest him. They take him to Oa with the plan of putting him in the science cells but before they can the group is ambushed by Sojourner Mullein, who rescues Hal.

The Trail of Jessica Cruz

Jessica Cruz is on trial for disobeying Thaaros 's order to destroy the Orange Power Battery. Things look bleak for Jessica but when she thwarts an assassination attempt on Thaaros, things change for the human Lantern. See that she risked her life to save him, Thaaros promotes Jessica to his inner circle. Later it is revealed this is part of Jessica and Sojourner plan to get the resistant closer to the corrupt ruler.
